DNB ANAESTHESIOLOGY TRAINING PROGRAMME

We are affiliated to the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi to give three years training to DNB residents who join our institute after going through a rigorous competitive written and oral test. We provide a structured clinical and academic training to our students that is gained through a complete set of rota postings through various surgical specialties. The clinical training involves tableside training with gradually increasing responsibility with decreasing supervision.

Our department consists of 15 senior consultants, 2 associate consultant and 15 Junior Consultants in addition to senior residents. The O.T. complex has twenty operation theatres, preoperative induction room, preoperative & postoperative areas separately for the ambulatory care services and indoor patients. Pre anaesthetic clinic is the most essential part of our set up where all the ambulatory patients are examined, investigated and declared fit according to their grades of illness.

The operation theatres provide facilities for patients from all the major surgical specialties like operating microscope, image intensifier, video assisted surgery and recording, Gamma knife, ultracision knife, intraoperative monitoring of cardio pulmonary status, coagulation profile, AB gas and body temperature. Each student spends 3 years with us. During this time, they become familiar with the specialty not only theoretically but will have an adequate working knowledge of anaesthesia as well. Hard work, sincerity and punctuality are required of the DNB students as are eagerness and desire to learn.
