As per the Transplantation of Human Organs Act 1994, the donor must be from the patient's family. A physical examination and detailed evaluation would be required to answer all your queries.

The breakdown of approximate cost of the Kidney Transplantation at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is as follows:

1. Pre-operative assessment of the patient including maintenance hemodialysis for 6 - 8 weeks. Rs. 45,000/- (Rs. Forty five thousand only)

2. Investigation of the Kidneys of the Donor Rs. 55,000/- (Rs. Fifty five thousand only)

3. Donor Nephrectomy - Donor Surgery Rs.75,000/- (Rs. Seventy five thousand only)

4. Kidney Transplant Surgery of the patient and hospital stay of two weeks Rs. 2,00,000/- (Rs. Two lacs only).

5. Approximate total expenditure of Rs. 3,75,000/- (Rs. Three lacs seventy five thousand only)

Please note: The above costs are the maximum, in case of a very stable patient. It is difficult to predict the cost of treatment, if the patient remains on dialysis for a long time. The above costs have been calculated based on the patient discharges, which took place within two weeks of the Surgery. If the patient develops serious complications and requires prolonged hospitalization, then the costs of stay, drugs and investigations shall be extra. (All costing in Indian Rupees.)
