Dr. Evanka Madan

Dr. Evanka Madan is a distinguished Consultant and Assistant Professor at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, India. She holds a Ph.D. in Cancer Biochemistry from AIIMS, New Delhi, and an M.Sc. from PGIMER, Chandigarh.

With over nine years of postdoctoral research experience, Dr. Madan has worked at leading institutions such as the National Institute of Immunology (NII), Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Her expertise spans Cancer Biology, Cardiometabolic Disorders, and Host-Pathogen Interactions, particularly focusing on drug discovery for cancer and parasitic diseases like Leishmania, Tuberculosis. Dr. Madan’s research has led to substantial contributions in these fields, with international collaborations, including a research stint at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Her scientific work has been published in renowned journals such as Oncogene, International Journal of Cancer, ACS Infectious Diseases, Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, iScience, Spectrum, JBSD, and IJMR. Additionally, she holds a patent for “A pharmaceutical composition targeting Leishmania-specific sphingosine kinase-1”, which highlights her commitment to advancing biomedical research and therapy.

Dr. Madan has been recognized with multiple prestigious awards, including the Scientist Pool Officer from CSIR, Young Scientist Fellowship from ICMR-DHR (2021-24), the Best Young Researcher Award at the 4th Science Conclave cum NBRCOM (2023, Alwar, India) and the Best Researcher Award in Cancer Biology under the International Young Scientists Award category (August 2024). She has received accolades for her oral and poster presentations at major national and international conferences across the US, Europe, Australia, UAE, and India.

In addition to her accolades, Dr. Madan has been invited to share her expertise at multiple esteemed forums. She delivered a Public Lecture on “Traditional Parasitic Plant Extracts Can Combat Drug-Resistant Malaria,” which is available on YouTube, and gave a scientific talk at the Third Biannual Meet of Delhi-NCR Basic Neuro-Oncology Group at AIIMS, New Delhi. Dr. Madan has also been invited as Chairperson for the Oncobiology track at the ISMPO-CON Conference (IHC, 2024) and as a speaker at several esteemed forums, including the IEC-VL Conference at Jamia Hamdard, MCCM Conference at the University of Kerala, and the NBRCOM Felicitation Ceremony (2024).

Her involvement in research grants has been pivotal. She had been involved in numerous research grants as an Independent Scientist at JNU. Dr. Madan’s research group at SGRH is at the forefront of Drug Discovery and studying the pathogenesis of infectious diseases, including Leishmania, Tuberculosis, and cardiometabolic disorders. Her work has greatly contributed to clinical research and the MAHE-PhD coursework, earning recognition within the academic and medical communities.

Dr. Madan is a recognized member of several professional bodies, including SYBS India (Life Member), PSI (Proteomics Society), European Society of Cardiology, and the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR). She is also an Editorial Board Member for the upcoming International Conferences on Young Scientists.

Her contributions to medical science and patient care have significantly enhanced the academic standing and research capabilities of her institution.
