Dr Abhishek Mitra is one of the very few Gastrointestinal Surgeons with a certified fellowship in Gastrointestinal and HPB Cancer Surgery from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, the most prestigious cancer institute in India. After completing his graduation from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi and Post-graduation in General Surgery from Lady Hardinge Medical College, he obtained his Super-specialist degree in Surgical Gastroenterology from Department of Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Thereafter he pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in Gastrointestinal and HPB Cancer Surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He continued as a Lecturer in Gastrointestinal and HPB Cancer Surgery for a period of two years. He has worked as a Consultant and Senior Consultant at Apollo, Delhi, Dharamshila Narayana, Delhi and Paras Hospitals, Gurgaon prior to joining Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. He has a sound research and academic background and has published various original articles and book chapters in National and International peer reviewed journals of repute. He has presented his research work at National and International conferences, delivered lectures and has been a co-investigator in various research projects. He is vastly experienced and is performing all routine and major open, advanced laparoscopic and Robotic Gastrointestinal procedures with a special expertise in Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery. He strongly believes in ethical practice and evidence based medicine.
