At Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, we believe in providing the highest level of medical care to our patients. Our admission process is designed to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for patients and their families. Patients can be admitted in the following ways:

Emergency Admissions

In case of a medical emergency, patients can be admitted through our emergency department. Our emergency department is open 24/7 and is staffed by a team of highly trained medical professionals who provide immediate medical attention to patients. Here is what you can expect upon arrival at the emergency

Arrival and Triage: When a patient arrives at the hospital's emergency department (ED), they are usually greeted by a triage nurse. The nurse assesses the patient's condition and assigns them a priority level based on the severity of their symptoms.

Registration: After triage, the patient or their accompanying family member will be asked to provide necessary personal information, such as name, address, contact details, and insurance information. This step ensures that the hospital has the required information for billing and administrative purposes.

Please check the Registration Section for complete details

Medical Evaluation: Once registered, the patient will be directed to an examination area where they will be seen by a healthcare professional, such as a doctor or a physician assistant. The medical team will evaluate the patient's condition, review their medical history (if available), and perform any necessary tests or procedures to determine the appropriate course of action.

Stabilization: If the patient's condition is critical or requires immediate intervention, the medical team will focus on stabilizing them. This may involve administering medications, providing oxygen, starting intravenous (IV) lines, or performing emergency procedures to address life-threatening situations.

Diagnostic Tests: Depending on the patient's symptoms and condition, the healthcare team may order diagnostic tests such as blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, or ultrasounds. These tests help in diagnosing the underlying cause and provide further insights for treatment.

Consultations and Specialist Referrals: If the patient's condition requires specialized care, the medical team may consult with or refer the patient to a specialist at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. This ensures that the patient receives the most appropriate and targeted treatment for their specific condition.

Treatment Plan and Admission Decision: Based on the evaluation, test results, and consultations, the medical team will determine the appropriate treatment plan. If the patient requires admission to the hospital for further observation, monitoring, or treatment, the decision for emergency admission will be made at this stage.

Bed Assignment and Transfer: Once the decision for admission is made, hospital staff will assign a bed or room for the patient. Depending on bed availability and the patient's condition, they may be transferred directly to a hospital ward, intensive care unit (ICU), or a specialized department for further care.

Paperwork and Consent: Before being admitted, the patient or their family member will be asked to sign consent forms for treatment, admission, and any necessary procedures. This ensures that the hospital has legal permission to provide medical care.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Outpatient (OPD) referrals

When a patient has consulted in the outpatient department (OPD) of Sir Ganga Ram hospital and is advised to be admitted, the process typically involves the following steps:

They may advise admission on the prescription with which the patient will approach the hospital's admission department or emergency department, depending on the urgency and severity of the patient's condition.

Administrative Process: The patient or their accompanying family member proceeds to the hospital's admission department or designated registration area to initiate the administrative process. They provide personal information, contact details, and insurance details (if applicable) to complete the necessary paperwork. Once the administrative process is complete, the hospital staff assigns a bed or room for the patient as per availability.

Consent and Financial Formalities: The patient or their family member may be required to sign consent forms for treatment, admission, and any necessary procedures. The hospital staff may also explain the financial aspects, including the estimated costs, insurance coverage, and payment arrangements. They will guide the patient through any required financial formalities.
