Current Medicine Research & Practice (CMRP) previously known as The Ganga Ram Journal is being published successfully for the last eleven consecutive years. This has been a source of stimulation for academicians and clinicians from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and other institutions to promote academics and research. It has also helped them to publish their clinical work. We are sure that this will translate into evidence-based clinical practices and improve patient care. Its editorial committee, constituted under the aegis of the Ganga Ram Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (GRIPMER) includes Dr. Samiran Nundy (Emeritus Editor), Dr. Satish Saluja (Editor-in-Chief) and Dr. Atul Kakar (Editor) and has the following members of the Editorial Board and Editorial Working Group.

Completed 11 Years

Our bi-monthly journal successfully completed eleven years of publication in December 2021. We have been able to bring out the journal regularly and on time. We have published 71 issues till October 2022.

PubMed and PubMed Central (PMC) has included 24 articles on their website, which has boosted our as well as authors’ confidence to publish their papers in our journal.

Impact Factor: 5.981

The Scientific Journal of Indexing (SJIF) has evaluated our journal and awarded it a 5.981 impact factor based on its Master List evaluation process.

Submissions

The journal has published research articles from all over India and other countries. The articles are submitted online and go through a robust peer-review process. The process for submission, double-blind peer-review is being performed online by Journal on Web (JoW) software with an editorial manager website at https://review.jow.medknow.com/cmrp. The author’s instructions are available on our website at http://www.cmrpjournal.org/contributors.asp.

In 2021, we have published 74 articles out of which 51 are from other institutions including 13 from abroad. These 74 articles have been contributed by 181 authors.

Article Type

The journal accepts original articles on clinical and laboratory research in the field of medicine and reviews articles on topics of current interest. In addition, the Journal features articles of educational value to postgraduate students such as “Research Methods” and “Technology Updates”. The students are encouraged to submit Original articles, Case reports, Letters to Editors, etc.

Open Access, Downloads, visibility, and improved citations

During 2021–22, the visibility of the journal improved significantly as the journal is now Open-Access and according to reports from Journal’s website http://www. cmrpjournal.org, the visibility has seen a rise of more than 60% as compared to previous years, in terms of the number of views and/or full article downloads from around the globe. A total of 15,402 persons viewed or downloaded our articles. The number of citations has also improved from 13 to 24.

Visibility on Social Media

The journal is now available not only on the website but also on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The number of likes and followers on Facebook has increased to more than 700.

International Editorial Board

To move forward and become more international, we have expanded our Editorial Board to include leaders in their fields from the USA, Brazil, the UK, Germany, Pakistan, Nepal, and India.

Publications

The CMRP has many publications of social interest and has generated interest in the media and press.

Double-blinded Peer-review Process

All the articles published in our journal are peer-reviewed within and outside the hospital to improve the quality of the articles. The process for submission, double-blind peer-review is being performed online by Journal on Web (JoW) software with an editorial manager website at https://review.jow.medknow.com/cmrp. This Journal operates a double-blind review process.

ISSN No.

The Journal has been registered with the International Standard Serial Number and has a print ISSN No. 2352-0817 and e-print ISSN No. 2352-0825.

E-mail campaigning

The Editorial Working Committee has started an email campaign to invite articles from outside. We will be able to generate more articles and this activity will help to improve the quality of the journal.

Weekly Meetings and Attendance

To improve the performance of the journal, the editorial working group meets every Tuesday. During 2021–2022, 42 meetings were held, of which 10 were held online via Zoom platform due to the Covid-19 second wave, which was regularly attended by all members. Most of the members have more than 90% of their attendance in the meetings.

Distribution

A total of 700 copies of the Journal are printed, out of which 210 copies are provided free to our hospital consultants and 426 copies are sent to all the important health institutions in India. Which, we are covering 308 medical colleges, 112 leading hospitals, and 6 medical libraries in India.

The Way Forward

Our most immediate aim is to get indexed in MEDLINE. A student editor will also be appointed in the next few months to ensure that the medical fraternity of students remains motivated and involved. With all this, we hope we will be able to improve the quality of our journal.
