Prof. (Dr.) Rathindra Sarangi is a highly experienced General and Laparoscopic Surgeon with over four decades of surgical practice. He completed his MBBS in 1972 and MS in General Surgery in 1977 from S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack, under Utkal University, Odisha.
He joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, as a Senior Resident in 1977 and has remained associated with the institution ever since. Over the years, he has served as Junior Consultant, Associate Consultant and, since 1995, as Senior Consultant in the Department of Laparoscopic, Laser and General Surgery. He has also been actively involved in postgraduate teaching and has served as the DNB Teaching Coordinator.
Dr. Sarangi possesses extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery and has been performing laparoscopic inguinal and ventral hernia repairs for more than 30 years. His special interests include laparoscopic hernia surgery and endocrine surgery, particularly thyroid and parathyroid disorders. He has pioneered techniques such as parathyroidectomy under local anaesthesia, total thyroidectomy and limited-neck-incision thyroid surgery without drains.
He has presented scientific work at international meetings including the European Hernia Society and has authored more than twenty publications in national and international journals. He remains committed to academic excellence, surgical innovation and providing high-quality patient care.
