Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Arora is one of India’s most distinguished General, Laparoscopic and Colorectal Surgeons with over five decades of surgical experience. A graduate of Calcutta University (MBBS, 1968) and MS in General Surgery from AIIMS, New Delhi (1973), he has been associated with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital since 1979 and presently serves as Advisor, Head of Unit and Senior Consultant, Department of Laparoscopic, Laser and General Surgery.
He has played a pivotal role in establishing and advancing the specialty of Colorectal Surgery at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and has made significant contributions to minimally invasive surgery. He is an Honorary Fellow and International Advisor to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG), and has served as an examiner for IMRCS and Joint Surgical Colleges Fellowship Examinations.
An accomplished academician and teacher, Dr. Arora has been a recognized teacher and examiner for the National Board of Examinations since 2000. He has guided numerous DNB theses and has authored several national and international publications in the fields of laparoscopic and colorectal surgery. He has also being awarded the title of "ADJUNCT PROFESSOR" conferred by National Board of Examinations (NBE), being presented by Vice-President of India at Convocation Ceremony of NBE for his outstanding contribution in teaching in General Surgery.
Dr. Arora has held leadership positions in various surgical organizations and has been invited as faculty, speaker and chairman at several national and international conferences. His major interests include colorectal surgery, breast surgery, anorectal physiology, and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
