Prof. (Dr.) Vinod K. Malik is a distinguished General and Laparoscopic Surgeon with over four decades of experience in clinical practice, teaching and research. He completed his MBBS from Medical College, Rohtak in 1976 and obtained his MS in General Surgery from PGIMER, Chandigarh in 1980. Prior to joining Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 2005, he served as Professor of Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, and held faculty positions at Lady Hardinge Medical College and PGIMS, Rohtak.
Currently, he is the Dean of Gangaram Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (GRIPMER) and Senior Consultant in the Department of Laparoscopic, Laser and General Surgery at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. He previously served as Chairman of the Department from 2014 to 2024.
Prof. Malik was awarded a WHO Fellowship at the University of Southern California, USA, where he pursued advanced training in laparoscopic surgery. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive surgery, colorectal and anorectal disorders, and abdominal wall hernia surgery. His research interests encompass surgical infections and clinical nutrition.
He has authored more than 50 papers in national and international journals and contributed over 20 chapters to textbooks related to surgery. An accomplished teacher and examiner, he has served as an examiner for MBBS, MS and DNB examinations and has guided numerous postgraduate theses. He was awarded the Delhi State Government Award in 2002 for his outstanding services and served as President of the Delhi State Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India in 2009.
