Dr Prateek Kumar Gupta consultant orthopaedics and sports surgeon is qualified specialist who did his MBBS and MS orthopaedics from GSVM medical College Kanpur. He pursued his further training in orthopaedics as registrar at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Dindayal Upadhyay Hospital New Delhi before qualifying for further higher training in the field of orthopaedics in London.

In Britain he underwent extensive training in orthopaedics – trauma, Sports injury,joint replacement and other sub specialities of orthopaedics like Hand surgery, Arthroscopic surgery, paediatric orthopaedics, joint replacement and revision joint replacement in hip, shoulder and knee replacement .He was a part of London internal training programme of St Thomases, Guys hospital and Kings College Hospital London. He continued his training further in his final year as specialist in Sports Medicine first in UK and then later in USA at HHS -Hospital for special surgery, New York and then in Australia at Filanders medical Center Adelaide. He furthered his skills in sports injuries by fellowship with Dr Freddie FU and Dr Chris Harner at UPSMC - University of Pittsburgh sports medicine Centre, Pittsburgh and then completed his higher training in replacement surgery under Dr Chittaranjan Ranawat at Lenox Hill Hospital Newyork.

While training in UK he enrolled and trained in Liverpool to qualify and successfully complete his Mch – ortho from Royal Liverpool hospital in Liverpool, UK.

On completion of full training in London he qualified and passed the FRCS – Orth exam from Royal College of London.

Going through an open interview he was appointed as Locum consultant orthopedic surgeon at Medway Maritime Hospital Gillingham in Kent UK. After successful tenure as consultant, Dr Gupta in 2002 decided to move to India and starting the first ever “Sports Medicine Unit” of north India at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Since 2002 he has been associated as Sports Medicine consultant to various sporting associations and sports bodies like Delhi and District cricket Association (DDCA), national basketball Association, swimming association, wrestling Association and was appointed a sports medicine consultant in the advisory medical committee for conducting the Commonwealth Games 2010 by Sports Ministry government of India. Pursuing his excellence in the field he held the post of vice president of Indian Federation of sports medicine (IFSM).

His ever-growing passion for arthroscopic – keyhole surgery in sports injury led him to take up the executive committee membership and later progress to President of Indian arthroscopy society from 2018–2020. Dr Gupta a qualified Orthopaedic surgeon has persistently been focused on a very specialized field of arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement surgery.

He is now the head of sports medicine unit and is vice chair Department of orthopedics at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

The sports medicine unit at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital backed with very strong rehabilitation unit, Dr Gupta has been involved in taking care and providing specialized services to all elite athlete including Afghanistan cricket team and many other elite athlete from shooting, golf, tennis, wrestling, basketball and football.

He is accomplish orthopaedician and sports surgeon specializing in the field of knees and shoulders.
