Dr. Sankalp Jain is an Associate Consultant Psychiatrist at the Institute of Psychiatry & Behavioural Sciences, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. He completed his MBBS at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Wardha, followed by an MD in Psychiatry at SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Chennai, and Senior Residency in Psychiatry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS), New Delhi.
His clinical practice includes the assessment and management of depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), psychotic disorders, adult ADHD, substance-use disorders, sleep-related psychiatric problems and mental-health concerns in older adults. His areas of particular interest include mood and anxiety disorders, psychotherapy, addiction and behavioural addictions, women's mental health, suicide prevention, geriatric psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry and neurostimulation.
Dr. Jain has completed a dedicated five-day workshop in repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) at AIIMS, New Delhi, and has extensive experience with Modified Electroconvulsive Therapy (MECT/ECT), including more than 1,000 procedures. His Senior Residency at IHBAS provided substantial exposure to psychiatric emergencies, substance-withdrawal states, rehabilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry, forensic assessments and community mental-health programmes.
His approach is evidence-based and biopsychosocial, combining careful psychiatric assessment, judicious use of medication, psychological interventions, psychoeducation and family involvement where appropriate. Alongside clinical practice, he has been involved in academic presentations, public speaking and mental-health outreach, with interests in suicide prevention, digital addiction and mental-health literacy
