Dr. Evanka Madan

Dr. Evanka Madan is a distinguished Consultant and Associate Professor at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, India. She holds a Ph.D. in Cancer Biochemistry from AIIMS, New Delhi, and an M.Sc. from PGIMER, Chandigarh.

With over ten years of postdoctoral research experience, Dr. Madan has worked at leading institutions such as the National Institute of Immunology (NII), Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Her expertise spans Cancer Biology, Cardiometabolic Disorders, and Host-Pathogen Interactions, with a dedicated focus on novel biomarker discovery and drug development for malignancies and infectious diseases like Leishmaniasis and Tuberculosis. Dr. Madan’s research has led to substantial contributions in these fields, with international collaborations, including a research stint at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Her scientific work has been published in renowned journals such as Oncogene, International Journal of Cancer, ACS Infectious Diseases, PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases, Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, iScience, Spectrum, JBSD, and IJMR. Additionally, she holds a Patent for “A Unique Drug Formulation Targeting Leishmania-specific Sphingosine Kinase-1 with Promising Antileishmanial Activity,” which highlights her commitment to advancing biomedical research and therapy.

Dr. Madan has been the recipient of several prestigious national and international awards in recognition of her outstanding contributions to biomedical research. Her notable accolades include the Scientist Pool Officer Fellowship from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the Young Scientist Fellowship from the Indian Council of Medical Research–Department of Health Research (ICMR-DHR), the Best Young Researcher Award at the 4th Science Conclave cum NBRCOM, and the Best Researcher Award in Cancer Biology under the International Young Scientists Award category (August 2024).

In 2026, she was honored with the Best Research Paper Award for her original research article during the Founder's Day Event organized by Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. In addition, Dr. Madan has received numerous awards and recognitions for her oral and poster presentations at several prestigious national and international scientific conferences held across the United States, Europe, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, and India, reflecting the global impact and excellence of her research contributions.

In addition to her academic distinctions, Dr. Evanka Madan has been invited to share her expertise at several prestigious national forums. She delivered a public lecture titled “Traditional Parasitic Plant Extracts Can Combat Drug-Resistant Malaria,” which is available on YouTube, and presented a scientific talk at the Third Biannual Meet of the Delhi-NCR Basic Neuro-Oncology Group at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

She has served as Chairperson for the Oncobiology Track at the ISMPO-CON Conference (IHC, 2024). She has also been a Jury Member/Panelist for scientific sessions at National Institute of Malaria Research (2025), Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (2026), AIMMSCR, Amity University (2026).

Dr. Madan has delivered invited talks at the NSGDCON Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Technological University, IEC-VL Conference at Jamia Hamdard, the Drug Discovery Conference at Jamia Millia Islamia, the CCTR Conference at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, as well as at Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women, and Amity Institute of Virology and Immunology, including sessions on antimicrobial resistance and career orientation in biomedical sciences.

Her involvement in research grants has been pivotal. She had been involved in numerous research grants as an Independent Scientist at JNU. At Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, she has successfully secured extramural funding for the project “Preclinical Evaluation of the Adjunct Therapeutic Potential of Terminalia chebula against Multidrug-Resistant ESKAPE Pathogens” supported by Indian Council of Medical Research and the Ministry of AYUSH. She has also received funding from Defence Research and Development Organisation for the project titled “Role of Platelet-Derived Extracellular Vesicles (PDEVs) in Hypobaric Hypoxia–Induced Vascular Dysfunction.” In addition, she leads institutionally supported intramural projects, including “Profiling Inflammation & Acute Kidney Injury Biomarkers in Heart Failure & STEMI Patients” and “Synergistic Use of Biomarkers in Tuberculosis Detection,” reflecting her integrated focus on cardiovascular inflammation, critical care biomarkers, and infectious diseases.

Dr. Madan’s research group at SGRH is at the forefront of Novel Biomarker Discovery and Drug Development. She aims to understand biochemical and molecular mechanism(s) of metabolic disorder-induced chronic inflammatory diseases including cardiovascular complications and cancer through cutting edge research, and discover and develop potential mechanism-based molecular medicine for clinical intervention and therapy.

Her work has greatly contributed to the MAHE-PhD coursework and Clinical Research, earning recognition within the academic and medical communities. She currently mentors’ researchers, fostering their academic and professional growth while promoting interdisciplinary collaborations across institutions like ICGEB, JNU, Jamia Hamdard and DU.

At national level, she contributes as a Corresponding Editor for Elsevier book “Cardiometabolic Disorders: Biomarkers, Mitochondria, Microbiota and Other Emerging Areas” and a reviewer for Elsevier book “Immunity and Immunotherapy in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD): Mechanisms and Innovations” and the peer-reviewed journal including “Neoplasma”

Dr. Madan is a recognized member of several professional bodies, including SYBS India (Life Member), Proteomics Society, European Society of Cardiology, International Society for Heart Research, International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences, Indian Society for Parasitology, Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists.

In addition, she serves as an Editorial Board Member for the International Conferences on Young Scientists. Dr. Madan is also a Board Member, Scientific Speaker, and Conference Planning Committee Member of the International Society for Adaptive Medicine and the Aging Heart, contributing to academic leadership and scientific program development in the field of adaptive medicine and cardiovascular aging.
