Dr. Pranati Swain

Dr. (Col) Pranati Swain is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. She has served in the Indian Army for 26 years, posted across various terrains and operational roles. She holds the unique distinction of being the first woman vascular surgeon in the Indian Army, and has also served as the Chief Surgeon at a UN Peacekeeping Hospital.

She is a dedicated vascular surgeon with over 21 years of surgical experience, including more than 12 years of focused vascular surgery practice following her DNB training. Since beginning her surgical journey in 2004, she has consistently delivered high-quality care across both high-volume institutional environments and resource-constrained settings—often building departments and systems from scratch when required.

With a deep clinical interest in aortoiliac reconstructions, Aotic aneurysm surgery including EVAR, TEVAR, diabetic limb salvage, and vascular access, she has led complex open and hybrid cases with composure and skill. Her strengths lie in her patient-centered approach, refined operative technique, and a keen eye for systemic improvement.

Over the years, she has contributed extensively to teaching programs, regional vascular workshops, and interdisciplinary wound care collaborations. Her academic involvement is matched by her practical leadership—evident in her success turning around struggling vascular units and her quiet but consistent push to integrate quality, empathy, and visibility into vascular care.

Dr. Swain continues to expand her clinical practice while mentoring the next generation of surgeons. Passionate about restoring trust between patients and doctors, she sees herself not just as a clinician, but as a system-builder—committed to meaningful change in how vascular care is delivered and perceived.
