SGRH LIBRARY GUIDE

About the Library

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Medical Library located on the second floor of the old building, the library came into existence in 1983 and has grown in parallel with the hospital. It fulfils the information needs of the faculty, postgraduate students and research workers.

The Library Staff who is overseen by a Library Committee, which looks after the day-to-day affairs of the library.

Areas of Library

The library is occupying an area of 1329 square feet with seating capacity for 50 readers in paper as well as paperless section.

Electronic Section: This section consists

  • 7 computers with internet facility
  • Two laser printer
  • One scanner
  • 80 international journal are available on ONLINE on different websites with usernames and password.
  • Paper section: It consists
  • More than 2500 books
  • 160 current journals
  • More than 2000 bound journals
  • 1600 clinics of different specialties

The various "housekeeping" operations viz. acquisition of books, cataloguing, serial control, bibliographical searches, keyword searches, reminders and circulation have been automated. The library is using in-house developed software named "SGRH GRANTHALAYA".

  • postgraduate students to help in preparing presentation for their seminars

  • Bibliographies on demand: The librarian compiles bibliographies
  • requested by the readers
  • Computerized thesis search: the has a collection of 150 thesis which can be retrieved through a
  • computer search by their titles, authors, guides, and co-guides.
  • Audio-visual service through CDs, DVDs, Videocassettes and Audio Tapes relevant to
  • critical Operations and critical case presentations
  • Guidance for searching relevant information through different
  • medical platforms like mdconsult, gateway.ovid.com, pubmed.com.

Library Timing

  • Monday to Saturday - 8:00 am to 10:00 pm
  • Sundays and holidays - 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, 9.00 am to 5.00pm
  • Issue timings - 8:30 am to 7:30 pm
  • Photocopy timings - 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
