WPA Early Career Psychiatrists Exchange Program Conference at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi

 About the Program

  • Part of the prestigious World Psychiatric Association (WPA) Early Career Psychiatrists (ECP) Exchange Program
  • A two-week structured conference aimed at providing early career psychiatrists international exposure to psychiatric care in an Indian tertiary hospital setting
  • Focuses on cultural competence, clinical learning, and collaborative academic growth

Clinical Exposure

Participants observe multidisciplinary work across a wide spectrum of services, including:

  • General Adult Psychiatry
  • Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Perinatal Mental Health
  • Addiction and De-addiction Services
  • Geriatric Psychiatry
  • Relationship & Marital Counselling
  • Rehabilitation Psychiatry
  • Clinical Psychology

 Procedural Observations

  • Modified Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
  • Ketamine-assisted treatments
  • Neuropsychological testing & cognitive assessments

 Academic Curriculum

Participants will attend daily academic and skill-building activities:

  • Case discussions
  • Journal clubs
  • Seminars & faculty lectures
  • Group psychotherapy sessions

 Cultural Immersion

  • Visits to historical and cultural landmarks in Delhi
  • Participation in traditional Indian festivals and hospital-hosted cultural events

 Program Fees

  • INR 10,000 + 18% GST (Non-refundable, payable upon selection)
  • Covers administrative and coordination costs, academic resources, and cultural activities

  Selection Criteria

  • Must be an Early Career Psychiatrist (within 7 years of receiving postgraduate qualification)
  • Active WPA membership (or endorsement by a WPA-affiliated society)
  • Proficiency in English
  • Demonstrated interest in global mental health, academic learning, and cultural exchange          
  • Through  a selection committee comprising of WPA ECP members and institutional members
  • Submission of:
    Updated CV 
    Statement of Purpose
    Letter of recommendation from home institution
    Proof of psychiatric qualification 
     

 Curriculum Structure

  • Daily OPD and clinical observership (1–2 hours)
  • Scheduled academic sessions and faculty lectures
