Sir Ganga Ram Hospital marked a significant academic milestone with the successful launch of the Advanced Skill Development Center (ASDC) on 31st January 2026—a first-of-its-kind training lab dedicated to strengthening core surgical skills across specialties.
Conceived as a hands-on learning ecosystem for both open and laparoscopic surgery, ASDC is the brainchild of Dr. Harsha Jauhari, Director, ASDC, ably supported by Dr. Vinod K Malik, Dean, GRIPMER, and strongly backed by the Board of Management, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, led by Dr. D S Rana, Chairman, Trust Society, Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman, Dr. Anil Bhalla, Secretary and Treasurer & Dr. Jaya Sood, Vice Chairperson.
The skill course has been conceptualised by Dr. Ashish Dey, Course Director, with support from Ethicon, and is designed as a structured weekend programme focusing on progressive skill development—from basic knotting and suturing to advanced laparoscopic techniques using wet tissues and high-fidelity ‘Tubingen’ mannequins.
The inaugural session witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 25 first-year residents across departments, guided by faculty comprising consultants from General Surgery and Obstetrics & Gynaecology, along with experts from other hospitals and medical institutions across Delhi NCR.
With advanced subspecialty and super specialty modules planned in the coming weeks, ASDC stands as a strong testament to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital’s enduring commitment to academic excellence, structured surgical training, and nurturing the next generation of surgeons.
