It is one of the few units in India which is geared with A-Z facilities of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology. It was setup in 1998 and is presently of National and International repute. It has both in patient and out patient services of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Liver diseases and Nutrition. The facilities that are available and attached to the clinic include UGI endoscopy with biopsies (Paediatric and neonatal scopes are available), sigmoidoscopies, colonoscopies (with paediatric colonoscope), polypectomy for colonic polyps, 24 hours pH monitoring, ERCP, pancreatic stent placement, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy for long term feeding, oesophageal stricture dilatation, achalasia dilatation and foreign body removal. Besides these, high end facilities such as oesophageal and anal manometry, endoscopic ultrasound and capsule endoscopy are also available. Almost all tests related to haematology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetic (including for metabolic liver diseases), radiology (CT scan, MRI), nuclear medicine (Tc scan, HIDA scan, red blood cell scan, PET scan) are available at our centre.
The unit provides highest care of mangement in liver failure cases with availability of MARS (Molecular absorbent recirculating system ) and liver transplantation. It is among the top 3 busiest living related liver transplant centres in the world. The hospital has performed >350 liver transplants with 15% of them being pediatric transplants with 97% and >95% survival at 1 year & 3 years respectively. It is one of the major referral centres in North India. Besides North India patients are referred from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Calcutta and neighbouring countries like Nepal and Bangladesh for comprehensive management of paediatric gastrointestinal and liver problems. For liver transplantation the unit caters to patients from whole India and other countries such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Pakistan, Dubai etc..
