At our Breast Clinic, we specialize in treating a wide range of breast diseases, which can occur at any age, from birth to old age. Breast changes can vary from normal variations to more severe conditions, including the development of cancer.

Who should visit the Breast Clinic?

All patients referred by physicians or surgeons

Patients experiencing the following symptoms:

• Nipple discharge or nipple retraction
• Breast lumps
• Common breast diseases we treat include cancer, fat necrosis, fibroadenomas, galactorrhea, intraductal papilloma, mammary duct ectasia, and mastitis.

To better understand your breast health, please answer the following questions:

1. Have you ever been examined by a doctor?

2. Are you aware of your family history of breast cancer?

• Yes
• No

3. Have you ever had a mammography done after the age of 40?

• Yes
• No

If you answered "No" to the last question, it is highly recommended to visit your doctor or The Breast Clinic.

Understanding Your Breast Structure

Each breast consists of 15 to 20 lobes, further divided into smaller lobules. The lobules contain tiny bulbs that can produce milk, connected by thin tubes called ducts. These ducts lead to the nipple, surrounded by the areola, a dark area of breast skin. The areola also contains oil-producing glands to facilitate breastfeeding. The spaces between the lobules and ducts are filled with fat. While there are no muscles in the breast, muscles lie underneath and cover the ribs. These normal structures can sometimes create a lumpy texture. The texture of breasts can also change during the menstrual cycle and with age.

Common breast changes fall into several categories, including generalized breast changes, solitary lumps, nipple discharge, and infection and/or inflammation.

Breast self-exams are important for breast awareness. By knowing the normal feel of your breasts, you can more easily detect subtle but potentially serious changes. These changes may become noticeable within a few months.
