Lung cancer - Symptoms and causes

Lung cancer is the leading cause of death from cancer worldwide. Every year, around 1 lakh people in India are affected by this medical condition, and the probability of a successful treatment reduces as the cancer is diagnosed later. Lung cancer is also caused by smoking and air pollution. We all know that smoking is harmful to health, but when we look at the numbers, smoking alone causes over 480,000 deaths each year globally. Lung cancer occurs when healthy lung cells start multiplying uncontrollably, forming tumors. This cancer causes problems in breathing, hemoptysis, and cough and it has the potential to spread to other body parts. While it can appear in various forms, there are two main types of lung cancer:
