Winter and Orthopedic Special Care: Protecting Your Health in Cold Weather

According to a study, millions of people worldwide have higher orthopedic problems in winter. As temperature drops, it becomes essential to prioritize our health and well-being. In cold weather, individuals frequently encounter various winter-related issues, requiring proactive measures to prevent them. Prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures causes frostbite and cold injuries, which affect our orthopedic health. When our body is exposed to extreme cold, our blood vessels in the skin and underlying tissues narrow down to keep us warm and protect our vital organs. This reduces blood flow and oxygen to the affected areas, leading to insufficient nourishment and potential damage. Numbness is a common symptom of frostbite and cold injuries. The cold temperatures cause the nerves in the affected areas to become less sensitive, losing sensation. This numbness makes it difficult to detect further damage or injuries to the area, as it may not feel pain or discomfort.
