Department of Blood Diseases and Stem Cell Transplantation & Research at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi deals with the comprehensive management of blood disorders including benign and malignant diseases. The Blood Diseases and Stem Cell Transplantation & Research is backed by a state of the art hematopathology department which is one of the best in India for the diagnosis of Blood disorders. It is also supported by excellent blood bank, intensive care and other specialties. The department is being run by the experts in the field of Hematology and Bone marrow/hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
The Department is headed by Dr. Nitin Gupta, who has done DM in Clinical Hematology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He was then awarded a fellowship from Leukemia/BMT program of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada where he underwent advanced training in unrelated/umbilical cord blood allogenic stem cell transplantation. After coming back to India in 2012, he has been actively involved in the field of Bone marrow/Stem cell transplantation. He has been involved in more than 200 stem cell transplants. Department of Blood Diseases and Stem Cell Transplantation & Research is actively involved in teaching of hematology / other specialties DNB students and research activities. Many patient awareness programs are also run by the department.
The Goal of the department of Blood Diseases and Stem Cell Transplantation & Research is to establish a state of art centre for Bone marrow/stem cell transplantation for the treatment of hematologic disorders and make it available to the needy patients at an affordable cost. It also aims to help in producing quality hematologists for the future generation by continuing their training in the field of clinical hematology and transplantation.
