World Heart Day - Preventive Cardiac Health Camp

Prevention begins before the first symptom.

On World Heart Day, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, organised a comprehensive Preventive Cardiac Health Camp, bringing cardiac screening and preventive care closer to the community.

Around 120 residents participated in the camp, receiving free Random Blood Sugar, HbA1c, Lipid Profile and ECG, along with consultations by senior cardiologists. Selected patients also underwent CT Coronary Calcium Scoring, with CT Coronary Angiography offered at a 20% discounted rate following clinical evaluation.

The patients were screened by Dr. Kavita Tyagi, Dr. Manish Sharma, Dr. Ashish Jain, Dr. Sushant Wattal, Dr. Sonia Rawat, Director, Preventive Health, and Dr. Noor Fatima Warris, Senior Staff Physician.

The initiative was supported by the insights of Dr. J.P.S. Sawhney, Chairman, Dharamvira Heart Centre and Trustee, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Trust, and Dr. S.C. Manchanda, Professor Emeritus, AIIMS and Advisor, Cardiac Sciences, who emphasised the importance of identifying cardiovascular risk early and shifting from treatment to prevention.

The interactive session also brought together Dr. Saumitra Rawat, Chairman, Surgical Gastroenterology and Honorary Treasurer, Board of Management, SGRH; Dr. Seema Bhargava, Chairperson, Department of Biochemistry; and Dr. T.B.S. Buxi, Advisor, Department of Imaging, for a discussion on preventive cardiology and heart health.

The cardiac imaging initiative was envisioned by Dr. Anurag Yadav, Chairperson, Department of CT Scan, along with Dr. Deepak Gupta, Dr. Kishan Rawat, Dr. Rajeev Malhotra, Dr. Swapnil Sheth, Dr. Tany Chandra, Dr. Priyanka Gupta and Dr. Isha Pasre, bringing together clinical assessment, laboratory investigations and advanced cardiac imaging.
