Importance of Seeking Mental Health Therapy

Mental health has been taboo in India since time immemorial, but the numbers tell an entirely different story. According to The National Mental Health Survey of India (2015-16), 150 million Indians need mental health care services but only 10-12% of the sufferers seek them. The World Health Organization (WHO) evidently states that every one in five Indians suffer from depression during the course of their lifetime. The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reported India is among the few nations with one of the highest suicide rates in the world, exhibiting over 1.6 lakh suicides in 2021, many of which are linked to “MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS”. These intimidating numbers make a discouraging case for mental health awareness and for getting help.
