The Department of Dietetics, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, since its inception in the year 1954 has been an indispensable health care service headed by Ms. Mukta Vasishta with 10 experienced Dieticians working coherently in providing a specialized therapeutic well-balanced diet to the patients.
Diet and Nutrition Therapy:
We delve deep into the existing medical condition of the patient(both IN and outpatient) and therapy recommends appropriate dietary intake for accelerating recovery and controlling the metabolic parameters as required, depending upon the clinical condition of the patient. This is done through elaborate counseling at primary stages, followed by suggestive dietary procedures and scheduled follow-ups.
The wide spectrum of services offered nurtures every phase of human life – from the nascent stages of the intrauterine life through the blossoming adolescents and childbearing age of the postmenopausal year. The department pursues to excel in the following specialists Pediatric Nutrition. Diabetes Management, Genetics, Atkins Diet For Epilepsy, Malnutrition, Maternal Nutrition, Renal Diseases, Liver diseases, Gastrointestinal disorders such as Ileostomy, IBS, Colostomy, Pancreatitis, Whipples Disease, liver, diabetes, G.I. disorders, Oncology, Obesity, , Bariatric, Enteral & Parental Nutrition, Critical & Respiratory Care, Geriatrics, Life Style Modification, etc.
The experienced team offers services like daily visits, diet planning of meals, and dispatching hygienically prepared and nutritionally adequate diets to the patients in heated trolleys, supervised dually by the Dieticians and Catering Department. The Dietetics Department offers services like daily OPD, carries out regular diet lectures, and camps for corporations, communities, and schools as well as medical education and training for professionals.
The dietician assesses the nutritional needs of all the patients and then formulates individualized diet plans taking into consideration the biochemical parameters in order to maintain individual health. Special emphasis is laid on therapeutic diets in order to treat different diseases/metabolic disorders etc.
The hospital has a centralized kitchen service system. The kitchen provides disease-specific diet to all categories of patients like suites, deluxe rooms, nursing homes, semi-nursing homes, semi-paying, general wards, and daycare & dialysis patients.
Standardization and assurance of food and dietary service are maintained and regulated through NABH, ISO policies, etc and updated from time to time.

The aim of this department is to provide state-of-the-art services for continuous evolution increasing the requirements of the patients as per their clinical condition.
To provide the appropriate normal and therapeutic diet for in-patients as well as disseminating knowledge & awareness to the community as an integral part of the total patient care.
