Dr. D. S. Rana is a distinguished Indian nephrologist celebrated for his exceptional proficiency in renal transplant procedures. He presently holds the esteemed position of Chairman of the Department of Nephrology at the renowned Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. His medical journey began in the picturesque region of Dasmal, Hamirpur, in Himachal Pradesh, where he pursued his undergraduate education in medicine at the esteemed Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla. Dr. Rana's commitment to advancing his field led him to undertake advanced training in clinical nephrology at the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh.
Notably, Dr. Rana has earned international recognition as a scholar affiliated with the esteemed Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, underscoring his global impact on the field of nephrology. Beyond his clinical and academic pursuits, Dr. Rana is deeply committed to philanthropy. He is the Chairman of the Ganga Ram Trust Society and has also established the Parvati Education and Health Society. This organization operates a modest 5-bedded hospital in his hometown of Dasmal, providing essential healthcare services to rural and underserved populations.
In acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions to the field of Medicine, the Government of India bestowed upon Dr. D. S. Rana the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2009. This recognition not only underscores his professional excellence but also highlights his dedication to improving healthcare accessibility and quality. Dr. Rana's legacy as a pioneering nephrologist and his commitment to serving marginalized communities have firmly established him as a respected and influential figure in the medical community, both within India and on the international stage.
Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Swaroop, Chief Patron
Dr. Ajay Swaroop is a highly esteemed ENT/ Otorhinolaryngologist with an illustrious career spanning over 45 years. He currently holds the prestigious position of Chairman of the Board of Management at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, a renowned medical institution located in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. Dr. Swaroop's extensive educational background includes an MBBS degree earned from the University of Delhi in 1978, followed by a postgraduate degree, MS in ENT, also from the University of Delhi, in 1982. Later, he pursued a Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO) from the same esteemed institution in 2000.
Dr. Swaroop's remarkable journey in the field of Otorhinolaryngology has allowed him to accumulate a wealth of knowledge and expertise, making him a trusted authority in his specialty. His dedication to patient care, coupled with his leadership role at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, has contributed significantly to the institution's reputation for providing high-quality healthcare services. Prof. (Dr.) N K Ganguly, Patron
Dr. Nirmal Kumar Ganguly, M.D., is a distinguished figure in the field of medical research and public health. With a rich and extensive career, he has held numerous prestigious positions, including that of Distinguished Biotechnology Research Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Dr. Ganguly has also served as the President of the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) and the Asian Institute of Public Health in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He has held leadership roles as the former Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in New Delhi, Director of PGIMER (Chandigarh), and Director of the National Institute of Biologicals (Noida).
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Ganguly has been a prolific researcher, authoring more than 850 research papers and guiding more than 150 Ph.D. theses as Supervisor/Co-Supervisor. His research has primarily focused on Tropical Diseases, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Diarrhoeal Diseases, spanning the disciplines of Immunology, Biotechnology, and Public Health. Dr. Ganguly holds fellowships from prestigious institutions around the world, including Imperial College Faculty of Medicine in London, the Royal College of Pathologists in London, and the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences in Canada, among others.
His dedication to global health is evident through his involvement in various advisory committees and boards, including those related to cholera vaccines, malaria resistance, AIDS vaccine networks, and more. Dr. Ganguly has received numerous awards, both nationally and internationally, totalling 118 accolades, including the Padma Bhushan Award, one of India's highest civilian honours, for his outstanding contributions to the field of Medicine. Currently, he serves as the Chairperson and Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Research at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, furthering his commitment to advancing medical science and public health. Prof. (Dr.) V K Malik, Patron
Dr. Vinod K. Malik is a highly esteemed General Surgeon and Laparoscopic Surgeon with a remarkable career spanning over four and a half decades. He is currently practicing at the prestigious Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi, where he has made significant contributions to the field of surgery. Dr. Malik's areas of specialization encompass a wide spectrum of GI Surgery, including Minimal Invasive Surgery, Cancer Surgery, and Endocrine Surgery.
His educational journey includes obtaining an MBBS degree from Kurukshetra University in 1976, followed by an MS in General Surgery from the renowned Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh in 1980. Dr. Rashmi Rana, Course Coordinator, SGRH
Dr. Rashmi Rana is a highly accomplished professional in the field of biomedical research and serves as a Consultant in the Department of Biotechnology and Research while holding the position of Associate Professor at GRIPMER within the prestigious Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, India. With a solid foundation in biochemistry, she has dedicated decades to academic and research pursuits. Dr. Rana holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree and has furthered her expertise with a post-doctoral degree in Biophysics at, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi. Notably, she has expanded her horizons by completing the Foundations Clinical Research Program at Harvard Medical School in the United States of America.
Dr. Rana is a passionate and prolific researcher, with a remarkable portfolio of over 20 published papers in renowned indexed national and international peer-reviewed journals, including Frontiers in Oncology, Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, Microbiological Research, Journal of Hepatology, and PLoS ONE, among others. She is also an editor of various journals such as Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences and the British Journal of Cancer Reports. She has various national and international collaborations such as IIT Mumbai, IIT Roorkee, ILBS, DRDO labs, CSIR labs, ICMR labs, Karolinska Institute, Harvard Medical School, Kwangwoon University and others. Her commitment to advancing knowledge extends to her active involvement in numerous research grant projects and her guidance of post-doctoral, doctoral, master's, and graduate research students. Over the course of her research career, Dr. Rana has earned recognition through various national and international awards and fellowships, such as the prestigious EMBO, ESMO, ASCO, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation fellowship, the HCFI Dr. K.K Aggarwal Research Fund Award, VIHA award in clinical sciences, the young scientist award. Additionally, she has secured research grants from various esteemed government agencies, including DRDO, ICMR, DHR, DST-SERB, and more.
Dr. Rana's research interests encompass critical areas like cancer diagnosis and therapeutics, Covid, Dengue, and Sepsis. She possesses expertise in proteomics and molecular biology, a skill set that has enabled her to identify a protein biomarker for Glioma, a significant achievement acknowledged through patent publication. Her contributions to education are also notable, as she serves as a PhD coordinator at MAHE, Manipal, and has imparted her extensive knowledge through classes for doctoral students, highlighting her broad teaching experience. Dr. Rashmi Rana's impactful research, commitment to academia, and dedication to medical advancement have solidified her position as a distinguished figure in the realm of biomedical science and research.
Dr. Mukesh Nandave, Course Coordinator DPSRU
Dr. Mukesh Nandave is an accomplished academic and researcher, currently holding the position of Associate Professor at Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU). He has a profound academic background, having earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacology. Dr. Nandave's research interests encompass a diverse range of areas within pharmacology and healthcare.
His research projects span various topics, including investigating the role of nutraceuticals and phytopharmaceuticals in addressing issues such as Myocardial ischemia & reperfusion injury, Diabetes, Obesity, and Pain management. He is also involved in researching the effects of Sirtuin1 (SIRT1) activation in aging-related cardiovascular diseases, System Xc- antiporter inhibition in epileptogenesis, and targeting AMPK, SIRT1, and cholesterol pathways for the prevention of metabolic abnormalities-associated Cancer.
Dr. Nandave has been actively engaged in numerous research projects, many of which are funded by reputable organizations and agencies such as Dabur India, CCRUM, ICMR, and others. His research endeavors have resulted in several completed and ongoing projects aimed at advancing pharmaceutical sciences and improving healthcare outcomes.
Throughout his career, Dr. Mukesh Nandave has demonstrated a commitment to scientific research, contributing significantly to the field of pharmacology and its practical applications.
